International Swiss Talent Forum 2026
A Week of ideation, collaboration and innovation on the elexir of life - Water.
Water for Peace is a concept that sounds simple on paper but is incredibly complex in practice.
Last week, I spent five intense days at the International Swiss Talent Forum (ISTF) 2026 trying to bridge that gap. Working alongside 70 brilliant, international participants on five challenges, our mission was to turn high-level theory into a tangible tool for change.
Our team, Team 5A, started by stripping away the surface-level issues. We quickly realized that the biggest barrier to water security isn’t just a lack of resources—it is a lack of prioritization. In the world of international politics, water is often treated as a secondary concern rather than a primary driver for peace. We identified a systemic void in education and awareness that prevents leaders from seeing water as a bridge for diplomacy.
As we moved into brainstorming, two pillars kept surfacing: Data and Education. We asked ourselves: How do we make water issues impossible to ignore?
Our solution was the development of a global web platform. Unlike traditional databases, this platform was designed to be a "living ledger" of both water crises and water victories. The platform would allow users from around the world to share live updates on water in their area.
The reported issues would allow for real-time monitoring of scarcity or conflict, while the shared victories would showcase successful treaties, innovative filtration projects, and community-led conservation efforts.
The goal? To generate the public momentum and data-driven evidence that NGOs and political entities need to force water protection to the top of the global policy agenda.
The final 24 hours were a whirlwind of "Design Thinking" in action. I was heavily involved in the development of our functional prototype, ensuring that our vision wasn't just a slide deck, but a tool people could interact with.
While I focused on the technical build, the team worked in parallel to create a marketing campaign and the perfect pitch. Videos, social media content, and slides were drafted and improved over and over again.
On the final day, watching the other teams present was amazing. It is genuinely incredible what can be defined, built, and pitched in less than three days when you have a room full of motivated minds.
I am walking away with a deep appreciation for international cooperation and the power of a "sprint" mindset. A huge thank you to Schweizer Jugend forscht for providing the platform for this unforgettable journey. We came in as strangers with a problem, and we left as a team with a vision for a more peaceful, water-secure future.
